Arthur Conan Doyle - Kadunud maailm. Maracoti sügavik.

Kuigi tuntuimad on ta Sherlock Holmes'i lood ning ise hindas ta parimaks oma ajaloolisi romaane, on eriline koht A. C. Doyle'i loomingus ta fantastilistel teostel. Neid hakkas ta kirjutama alles siis, kui ta oli juba tunnustatud kirjanik. Selgi alal oli ta üsna produktiivne. Tuntuimad tema fantastilistest teostest on "Kadunud maailm" ("The Lost World" - 1912. a.), "Mürgivöönd" ("The Poison Belt" - 1913. a.) ja "Maracoti sügavik" ("The Maracot Deep" - 1927. a.). Tõsi, neis pole küll ei julgeid tehnilisi prognoose, ei kirkaid tulevikukangastusi ega teravaid sotsiaalseid probleeme, mis huvitasid Jules Verne'i ja Herbert Wellsi, kuid terava teadlasepilguga nähtud fantastilised pildid loodusest, eelajaloolistest loomadest ja ookeani põhjas elavaist muinasjutulise Atlantise elanikest pakuvad siiski suurt huvi ning tõelist naudingut.
